What is Playthroughs?

Playthroughs is a social diary for your games. You can log, rate and review every game you’ve played, keep up with the ones you’re playing now and see what your friends have been playing. You can also make lists, build your collection and line up your next game.

Is Playthroughs like Letterboxd for games?

Yes. If you log films on Letterboxd or books on Goodreads, Playthroughs does the same for video games. You get a diary of what you’ve played, scores out of ten, reviews, lists and friends to follow, all built around how people actually play games.

How is logging games different from logging films or books?

A film takes an evening, but a game can take a weekend or a year, and you might put it down halfway, come back later or play it again years on. On Playthroughs, rather than a single log, you can start a ‘playthrough’ to track your progress as you play.

What is a playthrough?

A playthrough is one go at a game, from the day you start it to the day you finish or drop it. Start one when you pick a game up and it shows as what you’re playing. Add notes and playtime as you go, then say how it ended. Play the game again later and that’s a second playthrough, kept alongside the first.

Do I have to log a playthrough for every game?

Nope, you can just find a game, mark it as played and give it a score out of ten if you like. That’s a complete record on its own. You can also log historical playthroughs, if you’ve used other services to track activity before.

What is the diary?

Each playthrough is filed under the day it ended, so your diary becomes a record of your life in games and the memories that go with it.

Can I write reviews?

Yes. Share your take on a game and read what other people thought. A review can stand on its own or sit alongside a playthrough, with or without a score. Mark any spoilers so others can choose when to read them.

How do I find my next game?

Find games through Explore, your friends’ activity and other people’s reviews. Save the ones that catch your eye to your want to play list, upcoming releases included. When you’re ready to line a game up, move it into play next.

Can I track my game collection?

Yes. Record the games you own, boxed or digital, on every platform. Your collection is kept apart from what you’ve played, because owning a game and playing it aren’t the same thing.

Can I make lists of games?

Yes. Rank your favourites, gather every game in a series or pick the best of a year. Add a note to any entry, and keep a list to yourself, share it with friends or make it public.

Can I see what my friends are playing?

Yes. Home shows what the people you follow have been playing, and every game’s page shows which of them have played it and what they thought. You can like and comment on their playthroughs, reviews and lists.

Can I import my Steam library?

Yes. Playthroughs can import your Steam library to get you started. You review the matches before anything is saved.

Is Playthroughs on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The public beta is on iPhone through Apple TestFlight and on Android as a direct download from this page. A Google Play release is on its way.

Is there a Playthroughs website?

Not yet. A browser version of Playthroughs is in development and will follow shortly after launch. For now, Playthroughs is on iPhone and Android.

Is Playthroughs free?

Yes. Playthroughs is free and has no ads. An optional paid plan will come in future.

Will what I log in the beta carry over?

Yes. Your Playthroughs account and everything you log in the beta carry over to launch.

Where does the game information come from?

Game details, covers and artwork come from IGDB. Game titles and artwork belong to their respective owners.

Your games, your story.

Join the public beta on iPhone or Android. Everything you log now stays with you when Playthroughs launches.

On iPhone, install Apple’s TestFlight app and accept the invitation. On Android, download the APK (about 190 MB) and let your browser install it.
